    Re: only 70.000 —Larry Pieniazek
I guess I have to wonder why there is such a shortage? You'd think TLG would want to sell all they can make. Poor forecasting on their part, or is there some part that is in short supply? (you can't just snap your fingers and get 100000 more units, (...) (26 years ago, 5-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I read a quote somewhere (sorry can't remember where) from a Lego spokesperson saying that they were taken by surprise by the demand. As you say, I can't imagine them not wanting to sell all they can. (26 years ago, 5-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Hrmmm, does the thought that TLG might not be perfectly in touch with its customers' wants really surprise anyone? :) (26 years ago, 5-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: only 70.000 —Richard Franks
I've been rather suprised about all the media attention and wide attraction it has caused - it's either luck or shrewd marketing.. or perhaps a bit of both. But what better way to get free publicity than to get parents queuing up outside stores for (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)

        Re: only 70.000 —Huw Millington
A few weeks I (and I suspect a few other UK r.t.l'ers) was 'headhunted' by a marketing agency to do some in-store promotion of Mindstorms in well-known high-street shops in the UK, from the middle of October. At the moment MS is only available from (...) (26 years ago, 6-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)
