Can anyone recommend a text or some literature that actually
explains the theory behind the differential (and thus this
adder/subtractor)?

I have built several examples of the A/S and I played with
them extensively.  I keep coming to one conclusion--it
doesn't really add.  However, this is coming from someone
who blew off statics and dynamics in college because he
thought they'd never be applicable.  If I'd qualified the
belief, "...never be applicable in any job I ever have.", I
would have been right.  However, I seem to developing in
interest in the stuff, and want very much to understand the
theory behind these little gadgets.

Thanks,
Patrick Gili

Try these links. They are all variations of the same idea. It basically
started with Leo's design and went from there. They're are some really
good designs here.

If anyone knows of some more examples, I'd be really interested in
seeing them. Particularly if it excludes the special Technic two hole
brick.

By the way, is there an easy way to get that special little Technic
brick? Does it come in a particular kit? Can it be bought separately?

Later,
Pete

I'm interested in the adder subtractor that has been a hot topic for a while.
Could someone post a photograph or a good diagram?
