Indeed. There's a very cool hands-on display at the Exploratorium (for
anyone fortunate enough to live within driving distance of San Francisco)
that has a single motor input, and two wheel outputs. Motor runs, and
both wheels turn at the same rate togther. Hold one wheel, and the other
spins twice as fast. Rotate one wheel *against* the input, and the other
wheel spins even faster.
Like someone else said, it's a summer (that is, something that does sums).
The sum of the two outputs is a constant, relative to the input.
