(...) A bridge may be the only solution, but you will loose 1.2v across the diodes generally. Although it needs work (and is incomplete) I wrote a tutorial on interfacing a simple LED with an RCX, which shows ways using a bridge, or just simply (...) (19 years ago, 14-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Yes, though the things to think about are the voltage drop across the diodes or other devices and the amount of power required. hey electronic wizards, i am working on a new lego project to rid the new IR train electronics from the bulky train base and i'm looking to build a circut protector for it. since i am planning on using standard lego conections 2x2x 2/3rds this is (...)
