Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) There are two issues here. First, the NXT is slightly larger than the RCX, and therefore requires more shipping space. Thus fewer NXTs per UPS truck, etc. The only way around this was to make them smaller (we on the MUP/MDP pushed for making (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Well I also ran the same test, with both the RCX and the NXT... and the results were so identical, it's almost shocking. RCX - did not place order at shop&home, and strangely it never arrived. NXT - did not place order at shop&home, and (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Tim, I think you should consider there are other factors that cause the NXT to be slower than the RCX. You may not be able to accurately run this speed test, until the NXT shipping bottleneck is eased. I assume that will be sometime next year. (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) My VERY FIRST impression is that the RCX is faster than the NXT. In my two previous tests with the RCX it took about three days with standard shipping to arrive at my door (counting from when shop@home sends me shipment notification). My test (...)   Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

Mine arrived yesterday, earlier than I expected. I ordered two for... battle.>:-) First impressions: I need to buy fresh batteries, so I haven't fired it up yet. The packaging seemed a little lower budget than the original RCX RIS. The consumer NXT (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Have you got your NXT yet?

I know that some folks already have gotten the NXT and have started playing with it, but I've yet to see anybody announcing such here, so I was curious. Also: should I direct new NXT users into the LUGNET forums? I'm already starting to get more (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Robot I was commissioned to make

Hey check out this robot I was commissioned to make for the learning center where I teach. It is supposed to be a bare bones, frame only version of an Astro Mech from Star Wars, like R2D2. (URL) I brought along the Blue Quad I have been working on, (...) (19 years ago, 28-Jun-06, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, FTX) !

  Re: Microsoft Robotics Studio

(...) seen before. (...) Yeah, watching the videos does help. It seems the M$ group has no intention of running their code natively on each system (MC). However, they seem to provide a generic SOAP/XML framework (a service bus from what I gather in (...) (19 years ago, 27-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: NXT in stock at S@H USA

(...) Well, you could always help the eBay scalpers. One of the two listed is currently selling (2 bids) for $310... good grief. (19 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Microsoft Robotics Studio

(...) True. However, so is choice. So although I am not exactly known as a Microsoft lover, more potential systems and robot programming techniques there are to choose from, the better really. It is one of the reasons I have been so impressed by (...) (19 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Microsoft Robotics Studio

(...) Another potentially useful environment and different way to design a robotics program. You may not like it, you may love it! SDK's and IDEs are somewhat religious topics among developers. (...) Huh, you now if I didn't know better, I would say (...) (19 years ago, 26-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Great Ball Contraption

(...) My intent was just getting some feedback from the community in my original post. I hope I didn't sound snippy, but definitely a bit frustrated. The thing that has my curiosity is the obvious overlap of NXT, RCX, technic and basically every (...) (19 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Great Ball Contraption

(...) You were drowned out by the vast and noisy response to events in NXT-land. Sadly, I can't get to Brickfest. I strongly advise against creating yet another forum for discussing GBC. Keep it here please. Your new GBC website is very nice - I (...) (19 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: NXT in stock at S@H USA

(...) FYI, I'm been not following for a long time since the MDP started (ah well, hopefully next time) but mine shipped on Friday which was a shock to me. I thought these sets would be back logged till July/August. Can't wait... -aps (19 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Great Ball Contraption

I think the site would be more valuable if it focused JUST on GBC. I gave up on it as a resource after poking around and not finding sufficient GBC information. I'm a complete newbie, no real idea what GBC is. The front page says "It can't be (...) (19 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Great Ball Contraption

(...) OK...Does the community care one bit about my efforts to centralize GBC at all? I would like to think that I haven't been wasting my time for the past few months. I will take zero responses to this post as a 'no'. Dave (19 years ago, 25-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Microsoft Robotics Studio

I guess my postings (here and elsewhere) have been amongst the dozen that are way off topic. But I still don't get it. What is MSRS giving me that I want? It may be well thought-out and implemented but so what? I'll certainly look closely at the (...) (19 years ago, 24-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: C Programming Solution for NXT - Beta Available

(...) I think I speak for everyone in appreciating the huge effort John has put in on BrickCC with no financial reward. I also appreciate that certain folks would like to get compensated for their efforts, which appears to be the case with RobotC. I (...) (19 years ago, 23-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)
