Thats a very interesting point should Lego allow others to make Mindstorms

They could have a Lego approved program for 3rd party parts.

Im very interested to know the public opinion on this.
Many people in the LEGO community are LEGO Purists. If LEGO did give a
company or product a LEGO Approved stamp, would you use it, knowing it
wasnt actually made/sold by LEGO?
Would such parts be legal in Mindstorms Only contests?
If not, whats required to make them legal?

Since Pitsco sells the LEGO to DCP adaptor, isnt that already a LEGO-approved product? DCPs sensors
are expensive, but they must have enough educational sales to keep them on the
market.
Although some of these would be really useful to possess, the sensors dont
mount to LEGO natively. Plus, Im a purist myself. Im not so wacky as to
advocate official LEGO string, but I do use LEGO rubber bands and pulleys
whenever possible. When you buy a lot of sets, eventually youll end up with
plenty of those to go around.
