Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) Right - good catch, Rob. A decent price, but that'd be better if you could power it externally. Ed (19 years ago, 11-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) Actually, my 1.5 has a power port. It didn't come with a power cord so I borrow the one from my train controller when I need it. I'm curious (and not trying to be a punk, really), but how can you tell there's not power port from that enlarged (...) (19 years ago, 11-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) I've never seen any 1.5s with a power port. That seems very odd, because that was one of the things LEGO said they changed for the 1.5. The RCXs with a power port only have four studs on the bottom row. Looking at the picture, you can see (...) (19 years ago, 11-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) I guess I'm mistaken. I could have sworn the box said 1.5, but it clearly says 1.0 on the brick. I lost the box to see where my confusion is. I'll go back to lurking now. --Jack ___...___ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 (URL) (19 years ago, 12-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) no need. Actually, I think many (if not all) of the 1.5s were marked with 1.0. Steve (19 years ago, 12-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) The confusion is that the nos. 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 properly refers to the RIS sets, viz: #9719 Robotics Invention System 1.0 ((URL) Robotics Invention System 1.5 ((URL) Robotics Invention system 2.0 ((URL) for the RCX (programmable brick) itself, (...)   Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

Hi, (...) you can still get those from LEGO Dacta, either separately or as part of some Dacta sets (but they ain't cheap). Cheers Jürgen (19 years ago, 13-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) Oh, oh! You do mean RCX 1.0 with socket for AC adapter don't you? Yes, the LEGO Mindstorms for Schools sets come with RCX 1.0 with the AC adapter socket ((URL) Many of the school projects are stationary robots and often require the RCX to be (...)   Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

(...) Hmph, I'd missed the missing power plug, too. Oh, well, my recent bots have been mobile, anyway. But I ordered one of these instead: $75 for that same kit, plus sensors and other stuff: https://botballstore...826f6c232a Even without the (...) (19 years ago, 14-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: $60 for RCX 1.0 and Serial Tower

Hi CSSoh, (...) yes, I cut out the wrong lines, I meant the one with AC adapter. (...) Maybe it is also too easy to fry the RCX that way, e.g. by using a transformer with a wrong voltage, and the customer service costs got out of hand. Cheers (...) (19 years ago, 16-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)
