This is a nice idea.  One thought, though, is it really necessary to
have two holes?  I would think that one hole is enough if one use a T
junction like this:

           air tank
             ___
            (___)
              |
compressor---+---application

Or will this setup halt the air flow?  (Halting the air flow may be a
good idea, BTW, as I find that when using an air tank, I have almost no
fine control of the cylinders.)  What do you think?

Your idea is great and would work quite well.  In one of my applications I
am finding that Just a long hose is working as a reservoir of pressured air.
I Like your idea because you have simplified the setup... good work!  As to
the loss of fine adjustment in small cylinders... have a look at this old
post... I detailed a method of installing a flow limiter inline.  This
slowed the flow of air, and thus the actuation of the cylinder.  Some times
this is necessary if you are running large cylinders under strong forces,
and small ones under light forces (all on the same tank/compressor).  The
cylinder force is not hindered, just the speed of actuation.

(...) I admit that I don't really understand all the words there, however. So to clear things up, do you achieve the limiting of the flow simply by narrowing the tube at some point, or is there some even more complicated things going on? Fredrik (25 years ago, 10-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)
