The buttons "1", "2" & "3" send a IR message to the RCX. The RCX must be
running a program that will respond to one or more of those messages.
The A, B, C buttons will activate the RCX outputs forward or reverse. This
requires only the installed firmware and the brick in the "on" mode.
Program buttons 1 through 5 will start any one of the installed programs.
The "stop" button will end the active program. The button with the speaker
symbol will cause the RCX to beep. This assures IR contact with the RCX.

| (...) It also works with the Scout - except that A & B drive the motors and the C buttons turn on the red LED. I havn't quite figured out what the P1..P5 buttons do - they evidently activate some of the built-in functionality - but I can't be (...) (23 years ago, 20-May-02, to lugnet.robotics)
