I agree that the remote control is THE most useful gadget when debugging
the software and mechanics of your robots...but you can buy it as a separate
part - so I'm not sure I'd buy the Ultimate Builders' kit just to get it.
Other things that are in the "must have" catagory (IMHO) is a couple of
rotation sensors and that third motor.
But far and away the best addon for an RIS kit is...ANOTHER RIS! - or
at the very least, an RDS.
Playing with two robots that interact with each other is great fun - also,
building really *COMPLICATED* robots that use either two RCX or an RCX and
a Scout is fun too. Programming two machines to work together stretches
your brain far more than working with just one - and doubling the number
of miscellaneous Techics parts in your collection doesn't hurt either!
