  Question for you Technic pros
 
Does the "Cross axle with holes" exist in any lengths other than 16? If so, in what lengths does it exist, and if possible what are the part numbers of the other lengths? -John Van (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

John, if I am thinking of the same piece (cross axle w/ eyes #16, 1995) that can be found at (URL) I am aware of at least two very similar piece that is 6 studs (fairly sure) long. They are meant to accept a ball to form a ball-joint. Check out (URL) (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi: (...) The cross axle w/ eyes (Lego's name, not mine!) was in only 1 technic set, the small front end loader 8235 (1995). It differs from the two tie rods in that the tie rods can accept a ball joint but the axle w/ eyes cannot. The cross axle (...) (26 years ago, 19-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) A bit off the topic, but there does exist a similar piece that has a length of 11 studs or so. There's one in blue in the 8462 Tow Truck (URL) has an I cross section, and is slightly more narrow than a usual beam. The 4216 Basic set also has (...) (26 years ago, 23-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)
