Didn't someone recommend a rechargable power pack designed for radio
controlled model cars once - I saw a web page with this on, but can't
remember where.

Great if you have a RCX 1.0 - still available from education suppliers

As part of our ongoing development of jcx, we are trying to settle on some
options for rechargeable batteries. At Toys R Us there are standard 9.6V
NiCd battery packs such as Nikko #1299 with a standard size and connector.
The size is about 100 x 55 x 15 mm, which is OK. There's no mAh rating, • but
my guess is 700 mAh (this is typical for inexpensive NiCd, NiMH can be • 1550
or better while good Alkalines are 2500). We are also looking at hand tool
battery packs (the 12V Milwaukee has a nice compact slide-on mount rather
than the common lumpy 'keyed post' of Porter Cable and DeWalt).

We could also use AA NiMH in a holder and you just put them into a charger
by hand when it's time.

We're thinking of college labs where they will have 12 or 20 JCX systems
and where feeding them alkalines is just not practical or cost effective.
Charging 120 AA cells gets awkward too, so some sort of self-contained
rechargeable pack seems a good idea.

Any of you out there using rechargeable packs? Any ideas or advice in this
area?

Thanks

While we're on the subject, I just got an RIS 1.0 on e-bay, and I'm wondering what is the best power supply for the RCX? The one listed on Lego-Dacta says, "Not Available." -- Russ -----Original Message----- From: news-gateway@lugnet.com (...) (23 years ago, 31-Jul-01, to lugnet.robotics)
