(...) Actually you don't need LegOS, any input set to raw mode with the LEGO firmware will do fine. This is because even in passive mode there is a pull up of 10k to 5V, and in fact the LED is glowing dimly in this mode. Just tried it, I can get raw (...) This is may be a bit Off Topic With all the talk about the lego solar cell, (and cap) I went and got one of each. They are a nice curiosity, but as of right now, I can't seem to find any robot applications. Maybe when the sun comes back to Toronto, (...) (24 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Scott, I see this set frequently on eBay. There are six there now. Just search for "8880". I got two that way. It's a great set, though I feel that the suspension and joints to transmit driving power to the wheels are rather inflexible. Most of the (...) (24 years ago, 2-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
