I just got a second RIS, this one is the RIS 1.0 with the power adapter input. I tried to find that AC adapter on S@H , but couldn't find it. There is not even any info about it in the RIS 1.0 itself. All the info I found was, that I need a 10V 7VA (...) (24 years ago, 22-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi, Seven VA stands for 7 volt-ampere. To arrive at the ma/A rating divide 7 VA by 10 Volts. In this case it will be 700 ma ( 0.7 Amp). I do not have the mindstorm, neither have I tried the 9 Volt adapter but in general a 9 volt adapter should work. (...) (24 years ago, 22-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

There's usually somebody selling the original Lego adapters on eBay for about $18. I suppose that's highish compared to a Radio Shack 9v unit. In a pinch - and if you don't mind spending some extra money - you can always by a train set like 4561 "Railway Express" for $129.99 or 4548 "Speed Regulator" for $41.99. (...) Interesting point. I haven't run the RCX with an external adapter yet and hadn't even noticed that it didn't come with one. The documentation doesn't specify the input requirements, nor does the RCX itself. I was alway under the impression (...) (24 years ago, 23-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Thanks a lot guys I guess Lego should have thought about this and sell power supplies for their units (or at least let people know what kind they need) What I really wonder is why nothing has been done, I just got this unit 2 days ago, but Lego (...) (24 years ago, 23-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) A follow-up to my follow-up: I *think* possibly/maybe/hopefully I've found the source of the ELEX10204B chips, or at least a drop-in replacement. The part I've found is the MELEXIS MLX10402. This is also a 16 pin SOIC and, based on a pinout (...) (24 years ago, 3-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)
