What specifically is the difference between RIS1.0 and RIS1.5

Does anyone have a part-by-part listing of the differences between RIS1.0 and RIS1.5? I am under the impression, for example, that there is a white clutch-type gear intended to permit a motor to continue turning if the drive train/robot becomes (...) (25 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Where to find RIS?

Walmart.com has them (although I'm not sure what version), I ordered one yesterday. When I went to check on availability (put an item in your shopping cart, then in the quantity box put a large number like say 1000. If they have less than that they (...)   Re: Very Newbie Question regarding remote control

(...) I have only worked with the RCX under windows 98, and then mostly using NQC (Not Quite C, a nice programming language/environment supplied by David Baum)but here is my two cents. The PC communicates with the RCX brick via an infrared tower (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Very Newbie Question regarding remote control

Mechanically, LEGO is beautiful to work with. The components are well selected for rapid prototyping. For example, you will find that the hole spacing in the beams and the center-to-center distances of the gears ...seem to work well together. (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: New guy on the blocks

I think that unless you are going to write your own communications routines, you will need spirit.ocx, and use its functions to talk to the RCX. If you do not use standard firmware, you will not need the cd. These options are also generally more (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: LEGO Cam vs. X10's Xcam vs. other webcams

(...) This is true, in terms of both lighting and resolution. XCam2 is a cheap, wireless camera. Whether its image quality is good enough for you depends on the nature of your project. In my case, as long as it picks up my barcode tags, I am happy. (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: New guy on the blocks

Hi Francois, Like you said, if get the firmware from the Lego Mindstorms site and you use NQC, you should not need anything from the CD. Good luck, Gus (25 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)
