  Re: Which Palm?

(...) Sure you can! :) You can order a "serial" cable for your Visor from the following URL: (URL) Ordered mine about two weeks ago. My plan is to use it with my RCX as well as my GPS. (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

Martin is right, the Handspring Visor uses a different connector than the Palm devices, and so they are not directly compatible cable-wise. You can get TTL level serial comms out of the Visor by hacking the USB cable they sell. Split open the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Electric leads

Can someone tell me the length (in studs, preferably) of the short and long electric leads? -John Van (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Which Palm?

(...) Not really. The guy who does OmniRemote is a friend of mine (I had the springboard module before they were on the market, nyah nyah) :) and it was extremely non-trivial for him to support the IR, and it continues to be non-trivial to support (...)   Re: Which Palm?

(...) So is mine, but you can't plug serial devices in because of the different connector. If you want to control the serial tower with it, you should just get a used palm pro. If you want to ALSO use the IR on the palm, get a used palm pro with the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: cue cat

Have you adapted the sensor to work with the rcx, or have you just taken out the light sensor? If you have adapted it successfully, how did you do it? (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Math

(...) and * (...) available (...) the (...) leJOS ((URL) has sqrt, pow, sin, cos, tan, atan, atan2, and log. If Java is not your language of choice, I guess you can translate the code in Math.java to C. It's released under MPL. Regards, --Jose (25 years ago, 1-Jan-96, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

I think you're exactly correct John. There has to be very low level control of the port. The trick, I suspect, is that the control may not lie within the Palm SDK (which I suspect fully supports only IrDA), but rather with machine coding of the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Which Palm?

Something doesn't make sense to me here ..... IF someone sells a piece of software which allows the Palm to learn and speak "arbitrary remotese", then there has to be low level software control over the port. Doesn't that mean that who ever knows (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Which Palm?

(...) Hmm. I had assumed I could programme the RCX using a palm (via the RIS tower). However, after reading your post, and a good deal of the other 56 messages in this group, it appears this is not the case. I already have a LEGO remote, so that (...)   RE: Which Palm?

The short answer is it doesn't really matter.....'cause none of the Palm or Handspring units really work directly with the RCX. If there is a Holy Grail to this robotics/Palm group, it would be the successful programming of the Palm IrDA port to (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.palm, lugnet.robotics)

  Which Palm?

Is there a list of Palms which I can use with my RCX etc? I am thinking of getting used one just to use with my RCX - but I don't want to by the "wrong" one. I'm grateful for any help given... as always. Scott A (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics.palm, lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Math

(...) I am in need of the sqrt function on RCX. I understand that I have to build the function by myself. But it would be great if the math.h and library could be integrated into the legOS. Does anyone know about this? or having other suggestion? (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  cue cat

everyone knows that radio shack is giving away cue cats free, don't they? The cue cat is an optical reader used for reading barcodes. Inside the cat is a light sensor that might be useful for robotics. I think the light sensor in the cat is fairly (...) (25 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Tank (Re: Tracks)

(...) Actually I thought that looked really nice...functons seem like they would work pretty well too. You could try to use a "worm" gear to gear down the turntable; it can usually get the job done without using too much space... (25 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: web-legOS back online

(...) Three things, all related to the new way 0.2 manages programs: 1) 0.2.x has a separate kernel which must be uploaded prior to any legOS programs, making the procedure somewhat more complex. 2) 0.2.x program files are in a binary format rather (...)
