Re: IR Ball (was Soccer-Playing Robots)

(...) I tried to build something like this. I was just trying to make a film canister into a beacon (even if the LEDs had to be external). I was using high-output IR LEDs powered by small lithium watch/camera batteries. What I discovered was that no (...) (25 years ago, 7-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How good is 'toy grade' Lego?

(...) We´re using Lego Basics sets here in the lab (as moulds for ceramic slip casting in case anyone is interested... ;) ), the cheapest way to get parts here that I know and we get about 1 or 2 10ths of a milimeter variaton in lengths of our (...) (25 years ago, 7-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How good is 'toy grade' Lego?

(...) They're all the same great quality as long as you stick to real Lego. (This isn't just prejudice against the clone brands -- they really don't measure up.) (25 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

How good is 'toy grade' Lego?

I am about to buy some bulk packages of black bricks. But for less money I could go to Toys-R-Us or elsewhere and get a bucket of *all kinds* of bricks.   Re: ping-pong popper

(...) If you have one of those Klutz LEGO Creations books handy, they show a working ping-pong popper in the second half of the book. That should give you some ideas; I wouldn't lift the entire design for risk of plagiarism. You'll definitely need (...) (25 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.robotics)

  Mind Control source code available

Remember Mind Control from the good old days, way before the turn of the century? (If you don't: it's a Visual Basic program which interprets (most) RCX code and sends it to the RCX; along with some real-time control functions). Since NQC and other (...)
