After that I briefly read through the text on your web page i feels like
this is how it should have been done from the beginning. The bus system
allows complex structures to be build with great "simplicity" not to talk
about the flexibility! If I understood it right, this really opens a new
dimension. As you say, it contains the same wonderful flexibility as the
LEGO bricks themselves.
I get visions about distributing the batteries all over the construction
instead of clustering them together in a big battery box. :)

How much does the main board cost and how much would each node cost?
(Next step would be to figure out how to get the money for all the sensors
and motors.)

I think it's EXTREMLY intresting!

Hello All,

After I bought Mindstorms last fall, I became intrigued by the number of people
wanting to drive more than 3 motors or have more than 3 sensors that is offered
by the RCX.

I took a different approach (unless I missed it in the archives), and,
admittedly, one that might not appeal to the RCX loyalists.  This problem
looked like a good application for CAN (Controller Area Network).  With
CAN, it is possible to drive any number of motors and sensors
independently.  OK, there is finite limit, but you are more likely to run
out of money for motors and sensors before you exceed the limits of CAN.

I've posted it at http://www.flash.net/~mfabiny/C505brick.htm.  This relates to
my job, but I did it more for fun than anything else.  Take a look and see what
you think.

Regards,

Mark Fabiny

Hi Harri, The main board typically costs around $199US. It is available from Infineon distributors (Insight, Avnet, and Pioneer in the US), or directly from Phytec (www.phytec.com - look for their Kitcon167). Phytec also makes smaller footprint (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jul-00, to lugnet.robotics)
