Questions about unoficial (?) use of electrical LEGO parts —Marco C.
Well, before I go ahead and try it, I would like to get some feedback on the following (some naive) questions: 1) Is there any risk of damaging the Fiber Optic Light Unit (#6637) if I connect it to a pBrick (RCX, CiberMaster, etc) OUTPUT port ? 2) (...)      (...) I havn't tried it (cause I don't have the Cybermaster :/ ) but Bert Van Dam put on his wonderful page instructions on doing something similar to it. Go to (URL) and click on "the real McCoy" on the left.... it is a facinating site, though he (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics)

SV: Questions about unoficial (?) use of electrical LEGO parts —Thomas Christiansen
I wouldn't advice you to connect the Cybermaster directly to the RCX, you should use an optocoupler or similar... Regards, Thomas -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: Marco C. [mailto:marco@soporcel.pt] Sendt: 29. februar 2000 18:56 Til: (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi Thomas :) hmmm... well, I always thought so, but thinking something along the lines of: "Well, LEGO's for Kids, and kids make mistakes (adults too, eheh), so wouldn't LEGO prepare the INPUT's to withstand a "mistake" of such a connection ?"      (...) Yes, Bert Van Dan's one of my "regular" LEGO-Robotics (and AI) site. It's a great site :) I've seen "the real McCoy" *project*, and it's something along the lines of what I thought of doing to connect a CyberMaster with other pBricks. I'm not (...)         Cybermaster-RCX interface (was: Questions about unoficial (?) use of electrical LEGO parts) —Marco C.
(...) Well, that's my problem, I don't have any kind of measuring tool (er... nor the expertise ;) to check for myself if it's safe to try a direct connection between the OUTPUT-INPUT ports. Please, share your findings :) ! (...) Yes, I think it's (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Questions about unoficial (?) use of electrical LEGO parts —Zac Pollock
(...) Marco, I've had limited experience and success using the output of a master RCX to trigger the input of a slave RCX. The communication was quite reliable and there doesn't appear to be any damage to the slave unit, however there were some side (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)
