Karl,

I don't know about the barcode set, but I have both of the other ones. If
you need gears, go for the shuttle, if you can still get it. It's got loads
of them. And some motors, a gearbox, lots of axles (black and white). Build
it at least once, it's got some nifty construction ideas.
The tow truck is an ok model, but not much gears. It does have pneumatics
though (3 cylinders, 2 air tanks and 3 valves and a (hand-)compressor) and a
lot of blue beams. Nice wheels too.
Both models have a large turntable, which is a very useful part.

Have fun,

Arjen

I'm another one of those people who got a Mindstorms set at Christmas and
I'm wondering now what Lego set to get next.  I'm looking for a set that • has
a lot of gears (I never seem to have enough of them) and gives me a bit • more
experience with using them.
I'm currently looking at three sets:
8479 - Barcode Multi Set
8462 - Tow Truck
8480 - Space Shuttle
Ideally, I'd love to get them all, but sadly this isn't an ideal world.
So what do you think is the best addition to my growing Lego collection?

K.
