 | | Homebrew sensor question

I have been given a "broken" multi-function office machine (i.e. FAX, printer, scanner). I am wondering if there are any worthwhile bits in this type of machine that can be used to make homebrew sensors for the RCX? If anyone has ideas or experience (...) (...) Unfortunately, BricxCC is still not downloading the brickOS firmware correctly. I will look into this problem and try to fix it. In the mean time, you can use firmdl3 which works correctly. (...) Your page should get linked on the main Robotics page. There aren't a lot of entries. I'll post mine as soon as I find the receipt to get the purchase date. (22 years ago, 23-Jan-04, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Um, the back-EMF of the motore isn't related to the motor load per se but rather the relaxation of the current in the coil when it moves off the stators. It's also very fast (ie E=Bc) so the RCX isn't likely to get good readings for this. It's (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jan-04, to lugnet.robotics)

It will download firmware from Mindstorms, Robolab, LeJos (and I suppose others though I don't have them so I can't test that) BUT it gives an error message on the (...) Guess I only have the second highest: #756734, bought via LEGO Shop At Home in mid-December 2003, as part of the RIS Kit (2.0 plus a few bags of extra parts, a remote, a capacitor for some reason, etc.) Love the product, would love it more if it (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jan-04, to lugnet.robotics)
