Each sensor "connector" is a column of pins in the following format, where "X" denotes a pin position: X X X So, if you look at the lower edge of the HB, you have 16 positions in a bank of 9 and 7: XXX...XXX XXXXXXX XXX...XXX XXXXXXX XXX...XXX (...) | | Using low voltage motors
|
|
I'm using two low voltage motors that come attached to a really cool gear box. Or rather I want to use these motors. Each seems to work best at about 2.0 V. When running they draw about 200 mA. I tried running them in series with a 40 Ohm resistor (...) (29 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Today, for the first time, I decided to actually try out the new version of IC on my new Pentium, running Win 95. To make a long story short, it doesn't work. Why? Because I've got two devices, my mouse and my internal modem, which are always (...) (29 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

In your message you said: (...) What do you mean, "from the 20V range"? the HB supplies about 8 to 9v to its motor outs. a 30 ohm resistor would be about right for the 200mA current level. The resistor would drop 6v leaving about 2 for the motors. (...) (29 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

There is away around this. Configure your com ports to use a different IRQ. Typically the second parallel port IRQ (5) is available. If neither your modem nor your com ports will do this then you will need to buy a new com port board that has (...) (29 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

(...) Yes, you need to use a serial card inside your computer that offers add'l com ports. It isn't clear from your message if that is what you have. If so, the trick you are missing is that multiple com ports cannot share the same IRQ. Most or all (...) (29 years ago, 23-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

 | | REC80 Transmit

Folks, After writing code to decode REC80 signals I got inspired to write code to transmit them as well. But I sat on the idea for quite a while and didn't get around to it until now. So this weekend I worked on the idea and it is now complete. What (...) (29 years ago, 24-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Thanks to all the extremely useful information everyone was able to provide me, I have been able to fix my COM port problem. I changed some CMOS settings, moved the internal modem's IRQ to 10, and configured the new port as COM2, with a new IRQ. (...) (29 years ago, 24-Apr-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
