(...) Yes - managing accelleration is a 'must'...both in speeding up and slowing down - and easing into turns. An abrupt change of speed will generally result in wheel slip. (...) (...) Yes - and it's very fast to implement. Better still, you can use one of several rectangle encoding tricks that are out there (kind of like two-dimensional run-length encoding).
