Lego review in US News & World Report

I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but in the gift buying guide in the November 27 issue of US News & World Report there is a review of the movie maker set: "Lego & Steven Spielberg MovieMaker Set ($180) - Kids can capture their (...)   Re: My thoughts on the 2001 sets (Life on Mars and LEGO Studios)

"Frank Filz" <ffilz@mindspring.com> wrote in message news:3A250DB9.773C@m...ing.com... [ ... massively snipped but relevant to Life on Mars ... ] This morning at breakfast I gave a 2001 catalog to my five year old son. After he looked through it, I (...)   Re: My thoughts on the 2001 sets (Life on Mars and LEGO Studios)

(...) Correct, excluding which aliens might be in the large set, there is no duplication of aliens. (...) I disagree, I think the new blue in 7313 is the blue in the new range of greyish colors. This light blue is somewhat greyish, but not as grey (...) (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.reviews)

Re: My thoughts on the 2001 sets (Life on Mars and LEGO Studios)

Just thought I'd drop in a few comments of my own, having grabbed a couple of Life on Mars sets from the local TRU. First off, some overall comments about the theme - looks like LEGO is getting its groove back. These models are interesting, (...) (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.reviews)

Little Snippet on 7311 Red Planet Cruiser

Cute. This set is so cute, and has so many cool pieces in cool colours -- I want 50. An entire army of Altairs. heh heh. This was a very fun set to construct, play with and look at. Even the die hard castle guys can't disagree -- and I am/was/am (...) (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.reviews)

My thoughts on the 2001 sets (Life on Mars and LEGO Studios)

I've built a bunch of the 2001 sets, I've got all but the largest sets in these two themes (7317 was not to be found in my local stores and since I don't have a USB port, I will be waiting to buy 1349 until I can get it on sale). I haven't built all (...) (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.reviews) !

Re: Great town buildings available as part of Shell Promo sets

(...) Have to agree with Brad H. now that I've picked up all the 11 Shell promo sets. They are in my opinion some of the better Town System sets since at LEAST 1996. I think LEGO may have been targeting us AFOLs with this offering, and since Town is (...) (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.town, lugnet.reviews)

  Re: Mars set 7311

(...) I was really glad to see the green 1x2 inverted slopes. They will let me delay a bit longer in buying the movie studio set (of which the bulk of it's value will be useless to me until I spend more money on my computer - I don't have USB). The (...)   Re: Review of 7310, Mono Jet (2001)

(...) Yeah, I think so. The blue color is also in <set:7317 7317 Aero Tube Hanger> and the <set:7313 7313 Red Planet Protector>, I think. It's hard to distinguish on the box and on the instructions, on the box it looks like dark blue, on the (...) (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)

  Life on Mars -- short and sweet reviews (7312 & 7314 )

#7312 -- Looks pretty good, fair price for the element count. I think the new blue color is only okay. I am not sure about TLC experimenting in new colors before we get some of the elements we have been seeking in the same old colors. I don't see (...) (24 years ago, 27-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Review of 7310, Mono Jet (2001)

Review of 7310, Mono Jet (2001)

Hi, y'all. Got 7310 today at TRU. 33 pcs for $3.99 USD (8.271¢ per piece) Basic review: Pretty good, some new pieces, even a 2x4 and 3x2 slope #33 in Light Blue. Took very little time to build, but a good starter to see if you enjoy Life on Mars. (...) (24 years ago, 26-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)

Quick Reviews of sets 1355 and 1356

Hi All, I read the reports that 2001 sets were avalible at Toys R Us, so I talked the wife in to going down with me tonight (the only way I could leave the house with money) The rumors are true, although I was told by an employee that they were not (...)   Great town buildings available as part of Shell Promo sets

Shell has a set of 3 different buildings, 1254, 1255, and 1256 available at their stations. These sets are reasonably priced and come chock full of great town pieces. You can get these sets at any Shell station with a $10 fill-up (at least in (...) (24 years ago, 26-Nov-00, to lugnet.town, lugnet.reviews)

  Mars set 7311

Re: Amusing Review of 2963 Extreme Racer on Amazon.com

(...) Speaking of which, has anyone done any MOC's of the Pernese? Moving out of LEGO realm, has anyone heard if there any plans for movies from this series of books? Steve (24 years ago, 21-Nov-00, to lugnet.town, lugnet.fun, lugnet.fabuland, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.general)

  Re: 3723 Minifig Sculpture

(...) Bob, That's really good work - extremely close to the 'real' one I bought from just a catalogue image. Good use of Technic and pneumatic pieces to make it move - I want to do the same but alter the the legs somehow to make it walk. It's a big (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)

  Re: 3723 Minifig Sculpture

Bob, When I saw 'Junior' for the first time while perusing Brickshelf, I had a hearty laugh! The dome idea is hilarious! I wander what we'll see people doing to the maxi fig next? Perhaps somene is up to the task of turning it into a transformer of (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)

  Re: 3723 Minifig Sculpture

(...) I did not buy the set, but a built something close to it by looking at the pictures in the catalog. I started with the head and ran out of yellow 1xN plates - so I but a clear yellow dome on top. Then I thought, I'll put a couple of mini-figs (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)

  3723 Minifig Sculpture

Haven’t seen many posts on the 3723 Minifig sculpture lately. I just got one last week from S@H (it was backordered for awhile). Definitely a return to the LEGO ‘basics’. I like it so much I’m considering giving up my Technic stuff (I can’t believe (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.reviews)
