#7312 -- Looks pretty good, fair price for the element count. I think the
new blue color is only okay. I am not sure about TLC experimenting in new
colors before we get some of the elements we have been seeking in the same
old colors. I don't see myself purposefully collecting the new blue at this
point.
1) I love these chunky new light grey hoses -- I look forward to seeing it
in other colors. Although I would have preferred it attached via studs on
both ends -- you'll know what I mean when you see it.
2) Smoke colored bubble glass. Very cool!
3) You get a Mr. Spielbergo, the film director as a pilot -- mine has a
blurry torso, blue metallic visor, and black hands.
4) There is a new dark grey element: 1x2 brick modified to have two pin
connectors sticking out of it.
5) A small variety of light blue slopes.
HUGE ERROR/DISCREPANCY: Black rubber bands in the instructions, yellow bands
in the set! Not okay!!!
Overall, I'd say this has a 8 out of 10 potential. I am not crazy about all
the colors, but I might be overly particular in this category.

#7314 -- Looks pretty good, fair price for the element count. I think the
new dusky salmon color is only tolerable -- and there is a lot of it here.
I don't see myself purposefully collecting this color at all.
1) These new Martian minis REALLY suck!!! Not interested...
2) New claw elements may please some and irritate others. They are VERY
throwbot-like.
3) New trans-antifreeze gun. Very nice. That said: enough already with the
trans-antifreeze!!!
4) New canopy element in smoke color -- creates an open-air cockpit, but I
suppose martians can breathe their own atmosphere. Cool looking, has
limited functionality. Good for pure fantasy constructions.
5) Pointless new juniorized element. Stack a 2x4 grey plate, with a 2x2
grey plate centered on it, and top it off with a 2x2 grey tile modified with
a connector pin on top. Viola!
6) Printed grey 2x2 round tiles have cool flame printing -- good for hot-rod
designs!!!
7) I really like the 4x4 radar dish and the printing on it -- very insect-like.
8) Pretty good source for 1x4 red hinge plates, and red L-shaped plates.
9) 2 1x1 trans dark blue bricks.
10) Predictable use of the weird element from Jet's tiny Rock Raiders set --
used here as a Mecha's feet.
11) I like this set best in a frog-like pose that is not suggested in the
instructions -- this pose requires rearrangement of the feet.
Overall, I'd say this set has a 5 out of 10 potential. The lack of an
actual minifigure in this set weighs VERY heavily against it for me.
Moreover, this weak attempt at a mecha will leave real mecha builders cold
-- although they may want some of the specialty elements. The rotating
midsection lacks the stiffness I liked in the Mega Bloks Blok Bots -- and
I'd rather have the ribbed 4x4 turntable and trans colored tiles!
