Hi All,
I read the reports that 2001 sets were avalible at Toys R Us, so I talked
the wife in to going down with me tonight (the only way I could leave the
house with money) The rumors are true, although I was told by an employee
that they were not supposed tto start selling the sets for another week or
so, but with the after thanksgiving rush then needed to fill the shelves. I
found only Studios and Mission to Mars sets, They were just mixed in with
other sets and the prices were not marked on the shelves yet.
SO... I bought two studios sets. I bought sets 1355 ( Temple of Gloom) and
1356 (Stunt Man Catapult). The sets were priced US$6.99 for 1355 and US$3.99
for 1356. They also had 1357 (US$3.99) and 1351 (US$19.95).
Now to the reviews...
1355 Stunt Man Catapult
US$6.99
56 peices (57 peices actuall)
2 minifigs ( Camera Man and Jonny Thunder)
26 steps total, in three sections (7, 8, and 11)

2 1x8 light grey plates
2 1x6 light grey plates
4 1x10 black plates
2 1x8 blue tiles
2 1x8 blac plates with slider extenstion ( don;t know proper name)

1 1x2 white plate with center stud
1 1x2 black roof peak
1 1x2 dark grey plate
1 1x2 dark grey plate with movable clip thing (never seen this piece befor)
1 1x2 blue grill
1 1x2 (x3) black plate (airplane cockpit thing)
1 1x1 round brick with clip on one end and opening on other
1 1x1 black brick
2 1x1 round white plate (3 in box, 2 used)
1 1x1 green 3 leaf plant
1 4x10 light grey plate
1 1x6 light grey low arch
4 1x4 light grey bricks with slider groves in side
1 1x2 plate with tape print
2 orange flames
1 ruby
1 gun
1 scorpion
1 skeleton head
1 jonny thunder with hat
1 camera man with ball cap
All in all a nice, enjoyable set. The floor falls out from under jonny when
you pull the slide out. Well thought out set with little juniorization to
it. The set is also good for pieces, esp for train people as it has the dark
grey 1x2x4 75 slopes used in the metroliner. It also had a couple of good
alt models on the box tat fit in well with the theme I liked the set and
plan on buying a few more.
1356 Stunt Man Catapult
US$3.99
2 minifigs (stunt man and Director)
27 piecse )27 in box)
9 steps in two sections
1 4x6 light grey plate
1 1x3 blue plate
1 1x2 blue plate with handle
2 1x1 blue plate with two side clips
1 1x4 light grey plate
1 1x2 yellow blank tile
2 1x4 yellow tiles withblack stipes
1 3x6 ladder with clips on top
1 1x4 black plate with swivel point in middle (two 1x2 sections)
1 1x2 black tile with half white stripes
1 2x2 black tile with scene 3 clapper
1 1x6 black plate
3 1x2 light grey plates with center stud
3 orange flames
1 light grey bull horn
1 stunt man with light grey pilot hat
1 director with black ball cap
This is a cute set that does not really do much onits own. My wife likes it
because you can launch the stunt man a good distance , and I like the
stephen spielburg figure (so you don't have to blow $179 to get him in the
big set). It's a good idea to have mini expansion sets like these two for
the $179 big set.
Also to end this long e-mail, I have scans of the boxes if some one in
"power" would like to add them to the lugnet database rather than the
cataloge shoots.
Cheers,
David
