  HP sighted in NYC finally

HP finally hit the Kmart in Penn Station! (where I've been checking regularly. No luck at Target to date.) 4 different sets remained (shelved today or yesterday.) My first, late impressions: The telescope on the back of Final Challenge got my (...) (23 years ago, 26-Oct-01, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.reviews)

Reviews of MTW (and other GoB) sets wanted

I would like to see more reviews of my models. There are lots of people that have purchased them, but only MTW-1001 has been reviewed. Being the good capitalist that I am, I have decided to buy the reviews I want in the open market. *Any* review of (...) (23 years ago, 14-Oct-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.reviews)

  Review: 8539 Manas

Well, I figure anything with *two* remote controls must be good, so I ordered one from Ozbricks (www.ozbircks.com), and when it arrived, I must say I was a bit disappointed. One thing I did like was the little block thingies the rubber bands were (...) (23 years ago, 8-Oct-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic.bionicle)

  6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6080 King's Castle

(...) Well, here's a quickie. . . For comparison: the King's Castle (URL) the Black Monarch's Castle (URL) the balance, I'd say the 6085, but that can vary depending on what you want. The two castles are in many ways isomorphic: both occupy three (...) (23 years ago, 4-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

Hi, Considering I bought my 6098/6091 at half price, I am still dispointed despite the save, the set it poorly structured and when trying to see its features I always seem to knock of half the castle, It is very unstable also, making it even worse, (...) (...) it would (...) Actually I did buy my 6091 at half price! I had resisted it at full-price because I didn't think it was worth the money. Besides which, at half-price, it was less than AUD100, which is a psychological barrier for me. (...) I (...) (23 years ago, 2-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.loc.au)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

(...) Hey, I only buy if I think it's worth it now. That set taught me a lego lesson about quality. At $90 USD, the set did not contain the needed quality. But I probably would not have returned it except for the missing pieces, which gave me an (...) (23 years ago, 2-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.loc.au)

(...) Actually, I also called you "crazy Kerry" -- but I meant it in a friendly way. I call everyone here a "lugnut" including myself (for reasons that should be obvious). If you buy lego as an adult I should think being called a "nut" is just par (...) (23 years ago, 1-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

(...) I've kind of noticed this trend over the last 6-12 months, and I'm not sure if I'm alarmed by it or not... More and more I'll find very interesting posts in the lugnet.loc.* and lugnet.org.* groups that really "belong" (or I should say "would (...)   Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

Thanks for the review and comparison. I've been considering getting a 6085, and I've also been keeping a wary eye on 6091 if I can find it at extreme discount. Anyway, I found your comments helpful. If you (or anyone) can make a comparison of the (...) (23 years ago, 1-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

(...) Why bother? All you get is abuse if you do. I observe that in the opinion of Richard Marchetti, I am a "nut" for having the audacity to compare the two sets. At least if you post reviews in loc.au, you don't get abused for having written it. (...) (23 years ago, 1-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews)

6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

I just finished building the 6085 Black Monarch's Castle and I was most impressed. This is an older set (1988) that I got on ebay and was definitely worth getting. I'm surprised it doesn't get more rave reviews in the notes on lugnet: (URL) also (...) (23 years ago, 1-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6091 King Leo's Castle

(...) Yeah, crazy Kerry should have done this to begin with... ...what a nut to have compared these two sets anyway! As if these sets even came close to one another. I built and returned a 6091 that was missing some pieces (the earliest sets in the (...) (23 years ago, 1-Oct-01, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Great town buildings available as part of Shell Promo sets

Brad Hamilton has fairly reviewed these sets, but I had such a positive reaction to them I wanted to make a review. These sets are actually models built from bricks and plates. The presence of the original Shell sticker from 1980 makes me imagine (...) (23 years ago, 14-Aug-01, to lugnet.town, lugnet.reviews)
