Ahoy there me maties!
Christmas sailed into my house in the form of a Black Seas Barracuda. It
took me about 3-4 hours to put together whilst watching tv. I finished it
off Christmas evening whilst watching the film "Jaws". Nice to see the BBC
getting into the Christmas spirit. It's a shame the set didn't come with a
shark as inspiration for uses of a lego shark (plus sailors) were fairly
plentiful and predictable around that time.
Two questions about the set:
(1) Among the leftover pieces were 4 black 2x2 corner bricks. I thought it
was strange to have these as leftover pieces but couldn't find where I
might have left them out. Anyone else have this happen?
(2) I bought this set within the UK which has always had shooting cannons.
The picture on the box clearly shows the BSB has shooting cannons. Stands
to reason that there would be shooting cannons included with the set,
right? Wrongo! They were of the non-shooting variety. Anyone know why this
might be the case? The only thing I can think of is, since the set is only
being produced in limited quantities, perhaps they just packaged the one
set to allow for both US and UK markets.
That said, she's one heck of a nice ship once completed. No offence to you
Star Wars folk out there but I'd rather this beauty than a 3-4 times more
expensive ISD anyday! :-)
Anyway, I hope that Santa was a top bloke for the rest of you!
Arrggh! ... and whatever else pirate dudes say ...

I need the pieces! (...) I had these too, as well as a 1x8 (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jan-03, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.pirates)

| (...) I thought this was wierd too. I went and looked at the instructions to the original BSB and the 4 pieces were used under the rear mast: (URL) they now use 2 2x4 bricks instead, but still included the others. Also, I noticed that the hoist with (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jan-03, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.pirates)

| If anyone in the UK would like to swap their non-shooters for shooting ones, let me know. I have shiny new service packs of shooting cannons coming out of my ears, but I prefer the US style. Tony Priestman (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jan-03, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.pirates)
