In lugnet.pirates, Tony Priestman wrote worthily on the subject of urban myths
and pirates coming back.
Ditto. Pretty much ditto to the lot actually.
I expect that a bunch of folks at TLC know only too well that Pirates is not
coming back in 2001, and have worked out that a rumour that it is coming back
is way better than the fact that it is not.
I am completely bamboozled as to why pirates has not reappeared in some
guise. All the reasons that I can think of that might be advanced would apply
with just as much force to castle, yet castle always seems to find a new
iteration.
All of pirates seems to be thus far focussed on around C16 to about C19, which
leaves a considerable portion of maritime history an untouched treasure trove
of theme variations.
So thinketh a piratical afol.

| Ho Ho Ho! :-/ These rumours circulate regularly, but given the state of TLC's 'home- grown' designs of late, I'd rather they *didn't* bring back Pirates, because they'd just be *awful*. OTOH, if they did a set that was a good parts pack, with decent (...) (24 years ago, 8-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)
