Re: Getting to the Wedding from LAX?

(...) Road and turn left, signs for LEgoland abound. Legoland Drive is where you turn (duh) right, and they planted a lil' ol' Euro-style roundabout to confuse us USA natives. EASY to get there by car and the other bonus is that your weekend rental (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.people)

Re: Getting to the Wedding from LAX?

(...) I would say yes. The last time we went we stayed at my sister's apartment in Santa Monica (we plan to do this again!) and left for LL around sevenish on a Saturday morning (in August). We stopped at a fast food place for breakfast and still (...) (26 years ago, 1-Apr-01, to lugnet.people)

Getting to the Wedding from LAX?

It's much quicker and cheaper for me to fly from Vancouver to Los Angeles than it is to San Diego or Orange County (several hours and hundreds of $$!). Is it practical to drive down from LA? Anyone else going to be going to LA who would share a (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.people)

Re: SD airport <-> Carlsbad driving time?

I would actually agree with this suggestion. I would say that the drive time to Carlsbad from the Orange County airport is about 50 minutes, but not too much of that is apt to be high traffic. Only about the first 5 miles from the airport tend to (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.people, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sd, lugnet.legoland.california)

  Re: The list of invitees

(...) Its funnier to be flying from Massachusetts to go to a wedding in California for two people who live in Massachusetts! -Tim (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.people)

  Re: The list of invitees

Boy am I hard up for things to do Friday night, I must not have enough LEGO to sort... (...) Of course it's pretty humourous to be flying out to California to meet a bunch of folks from Massachusetts.... Frank (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.people)

Re: SD airport <-> Carlsbad driving time?

(...) Yes, I would say 45+ minutes with _no_ traffic and (and this is *after* you get out of the messy SD airport, that could be a chore in itself). Just hop on the 5 freeway for the entire trip. (...) (weekdays) Mornings = traffic going south into (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.people, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sd, lugnet.legoland.california)

Re: SD airport <-> Carlsbad driving time?

(...) 30-40 minutes sound right for low traffic times. During rush hour it could take two or three times that long. Rush hour is usually between 7:00 and 9:00am going south and probably 3:30 and 6:00pm heading north. And of course, there are almost (...)   The list of invitees

Having received the list of invitees, I look forward to meeting you all, and of course especially Todd and Suzanne. I hope everyone who is invited is able to make the final arrangements to come. I'm sure we'll give Todd and Suzanne a wonderful kick (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.people)

Re: SD airport <-> Carlsbad driving time?

Hi Todd, I've only driven that route on the weekends and it takes roughly 30-40 minutes (without traffic). I've heard that traffic can get pretty bad on the weekdays on that stretch. If nobody answers your post, you can try emailing John Gramley, (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.people, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sd)

SD airport <-> Carlsbad driving time?

(...) Say, I've been wondering...how much time should I allow for driving between Carlsbad and the San Diego airport and back? I'll be renting a car the last week of April and will be picking some family members and friends up at the airport. I (...)   Re: Pre-Wedding LUGOLA/LUGNET meeting on Saturday April 28th - 8AM - 4PM in Southern Orange County

(trying to deflect possible issues) I also didn't mean that this was some sort of "official" LUGNET event. I just meant that we were going to host a gathering, expecting a lot of LUGNET people to show. Don't flame me! Brad Hamilton (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.people)

  Re: Pre-Wedding LUGOLA/LUGNET meeting on Saturday April 28th - 8AM - 4PM in Southern Orange County

Doh - I just dug and found some prior posts implying some other suggested times/locations with various reasons. There is no reason we can't have multiple meetings. Also, if people want to move the time or location of this meeting, I'd be all for it. (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-01, to lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.people)

  Pre-Wedding LUGOLA/LUGNET meeting on Saturday April 28th - 8AM - 4PM in Southern Orange County

Hi Folks, (I'm posting this to lugnet.org.us.lugola and lugnet.people as well as sending it out to a list of interested parties by email) The local LEGO Users Group, LUGOLA (which has expanded to include LA and San Diego) has proposed having a (...)   Get a car! (Was Re: LA or San Diego?)

(...) I vote get a car. Everything is far enough apart to make the use of public transportaion very frustrating, and for the price of going around in a cab you should be able to rent a car. Of course, I am speaking as a Northern Californian, but I (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.people)

Re: LA or San Diego? (was Re: Wedding plans)

(...) No, we drive on the RIGHT side of the road. :-) It's you lot that are left out. And if I can hack driving on the *wrong* side of the road (which I did in Oz and in the UK... the latter with a STICK SHIFT, talk about disorienting) you can (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-01, to lugnet.people)
