  Re: Which glue?

(...) OK, to revive this thread, I've had zero luck gluing ABS studless beams to the backside of mirrors - superglue doesn't seem to stick at all. Any ideas? What am I doing wrong, etc.? 2 component epoxy isn't likely to work either, given the (...) (16 years ago, 21-Feb-08, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: Which glue?

(...) Epoxy works like wood glue, in that it needs to permeate the surface of the materials that it is bonding in order to get anything more than a light adhesion. At my last job, when we were epoxying resin tooling board together, we'd regularly (...) (17 years ago, 6-Apr-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: Which glue?

(...) Some of the thin CA glues have a solvent added (MEK?), the superglue brand seems to have more then the others. While working on some movie props I needed to glue some detail onto a curved surface. the thin SG brand caused the thin styrene (...) (17 years ago, 5-Apr-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: Which glue?

(...) I've found cyanoacrylate 'Super Glue' isn't good at holding LEGO together for long. But, this is mainly down to the shiny surface of parts. Where I've sanded the edge of a push switch and fitted it into a train controller, it's an incredibly (...) (17 years ago, 5-Apr-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: Which glue?

This is SPARTA!!! Figure from the "300"

Well the title pretty much says it all. I created decals to make the Spartans from the new film the "300." I utilized RedBean's Spear, Helmet, and Shield to really pull this figure together, decaling the lambda on the shield. (URL) Image is (URL) (...)   Re: Hypothetically speaking? the future of IR/RC trains

(...) I also had no problems running a train when I metalized some 4.5v track using some thin metal tape. (URL) But this did increase the hieght of the rail by a samll amount.   Re: From Jared Burks AKA Kaminoan

(...) Well, while it does require you to cut your elements it is almost all Lego parts. Two parts completely unmodified, the tires/wheels and the little black slope used for the seat.   Re: Hypothetically speaking? the future of IR/RC trains

(...) while the distance between the rails is identical the depth of the rail is not. unfortunetly this lets 4.5v trains run on 9v track but not the other way around because 9v train wheels have a longer flange depth.. ondrew (17 years ago, 20-Feb-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: Hypothetically speaking? the future of IR/RC trains

(...) It's possible you could get reasonable running by butting them up against one another, but no, they're not really designed to click together. If you ask Ondrew nicely, he may be able to come up with a nice adapter solution though. ROSCO (17 years ago, 20-Feb-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)
