  Re: Which glue?

(...) No they are quite different. (URL) MEK> is not even a glue or epoxy at all. It is rather a solvent that literally loosens the plastic molecules of the ABS, and allows them to intertwine between bricks. Once it evaporates, the ABS returns to a (...)   Re: Which glue?

(...) AFAIK. Have you heard otherwise? I thought Super Glue was in the same type glue family as MEK. JOHN (18 years ago, 9-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: Which glue?

(...) Thanks Ondrew. I had forgot that simple solution. Even have some onhand somewhere, and clear too. :) -Rob www.brickmodder.net (18 years ago, 9-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: Which glue?

(...) 2part epoxy. it's thick which is why i don't use it, but it will be perfect for your application. it's also non cunductive. it smells horible when uncured but is as strong as abs when cured. you can get it at most auto parts stores for around (...)   Re: Which glue?

(...) Has Super Glue been used very successfully keeping ABS parts bonded over time? -Rob www.brickmodder.net (18 years ago, 9-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: Which glue?

(...) Super Glue makes a more viscous version of their glue that I've used. It's been a while, but IIRC it comes with a brush, too. Glued luck, JOHN (18 years ago, 9-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Which glue?

I will soon be gluing LED's (light emitting diodes) inside some LEGO elements. In the past, I've always used MEK for gluing LEGO pieces together, but I need something a little more viscous and less runny for this. Any suggestions? -Rob (...)   Re: New modded parts

(...) Thanks :-) I thought of calling a half double axle joiner a "minim" because it looks like the musical note and it's a lot quicker to say! I've made quite a few of the X plugs you mentioned, but from axle pins because the ball parts are less (...) (18 years ago, 3-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: New modded parts

(...) Wow, those are some very good mods! I can definitely see the half-double axle joiner perpendicular becoming very handy - for half unit increments, among other things. Sometime I'll compile my own part wish list, but I'm to laz-er-busy right (...) (18 years ago, 3-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod)

  New modded parts

Here's an update on my parts experiments. I've added quite a few Technic parts: (URL) expansion link (URL) , based on a 1x3 thin liftarm, allows an axle or peg to slide in the 1x2 slotted hole. Very useful for steam engines: (URL) (It would go (...) (18 years ago, 2-Feb-07, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.technic)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) Actually a typical bridge rectifier will drop ~1.4 volts in the supply. That's alot! About a 16% drop in voltage, and a 29% drop in overall power at the top end. I'm not sure what effect this would have on the control circuitry. Mat (18 years ago, 27-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) i never really tested it to see what the drop was. i can't imagine it was much though. ondrew (18 years ago, 26-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) Ondrew, how did you handle the voltage drop through the bridge rectifier? Did you measure any top-speed dropout? Curious, ---Will (18 years ago, 25-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) Actually, it would be easy enough for someone with electronics and microcontroller experience just to build a new receiver. You typically record the IR signals on a PC, figure out how they're coded, then program a microcontroller to decode (...)   Re: IR train base alternative

(...) I’m still trying to figure all that out. If I make 20+ at a time it wouldn't be horrible but it's still a little time consuming. Here’s a short list of components 1 IR receiver base <not listed on bricklink yet so ???...??? 2 28guage 4 strand (...)   Re: IR train base alternative

(...) Ondrew (...) (URL) would be interested in purchasing the modified version. Any idea of the cost based on your parts, etc? (18 years ago, 2-Aug-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) i'd be happy to take some detailed photos but i suspect that the person will need to see the circut in person. from what i can tell the control circut that takes the IR signal and makes the thing work is buryed under a black blob. i should (...)   Re: IR train base alternative

(...) It would be a useful exercise for someone with electronics skills to (if possible) figure out the IR stuff and draw up a circuit diagram for the IR baseplate piece. (18 years ago, 1-Aug-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) It's a nice modification, but I can't help thinking it'd be better and cheaper all round to just build an IR receiver circuit for this - there's very little of the original configuration left in your mod. One mod I would like to see (to save (...) (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Re: IR train base alternative

(...) <SNIP> (...) Well, its persuaded me to go and get one to modify sometime :) (...) Seeing a the instructions are already here (in your post). I'd look at selling preassembled units rather than explaining how to further than you already have. (18 years ago, 31-Jul-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.parts.mod)
