  making parts Re: Preview ALCO RS-1 A. T. & S. F.

(...) snipped (...) James beutiful work as always. While we dream, a 4 wide version would be nice as well, not to mention a bulk pack! I've toyed with the idea of molding/casting repro parts. This may be the right part to try it with. The best resin (...) (21 years ago, 11-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts, FTX)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) AAA...AAAHHH...HHH! I shouldve mentioned I'm a purist! (pukes) But I guess I wouldn't mind taking it apart to FIX it.... Though for that I'd like to be sure that there was no other way to fix the bulb first... A last resort type thing. (...) (...)   Re: 2 different sliding doors

(...) I have no idea myself, but prototype seems reasonable guessing to me. They may have decided that it required too fiddly of a position to cover the opening and that a wider opening was better... Thanks for sharing this, what ever it is! (21 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts)

  2 different sliding doors

Hi, I already asked this question in the forum at 1000steine.de but nobody could give an answer, although there a many 12V hardcore fans. I also emailed a couple of fans but nobody has ever seen the door at the bottom of the picture: (URL) pic (...) (21 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains, lugnet.parts)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

If it's a non-functional bulb, I'd think this would be an ideal opportunity to experiment with it and take it apart, to see if you can fit in a new lightbulb. It shouldn't be that difficult to accomplish. Perhaps you can even redesign it so it takes (...) (21 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) Yes, yes, I tried those things too. I have another bulb of the same age from the same set on the other end of my loco, powered by the same battery box, and it's working just fine. I tried going backwards on the connections; first I put the (...) (21 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) Hi Samarth, I thought I read somewhere here on LUGNET that the lights are incandescent and will eventually give out. I'm not sure though. All hail hitechnic. e (21 years ago, 5-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(...) This may seem obvious, but if you're using a wire to connect it to a battery box, is it the wire? Does the battery box work properly? Does the battery itself work? Try checking out those parts too. -Bryan (21 years ago, 4-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

HELP needed with non-functioning 1x2 light brick!

(Not sure exactly where this should go) I have an old (say about 7-8 years old) electric light and sound brick 1 x 2 with top lamp that has never given me trouble until now. I tried clearing the muck off the contacts, rearranging it in various ways, (...) (21 years ago, 4-Feb-05, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.storage, lugnet.general)

Re: Why Technic Pin 1/2 (part #4274) blue ?

(...) I completely agree with Jennifer's statement, we like the colours when it suits us, but not when it doesn't. Unlike bley, I think this is a problem that only creeps slowly into the minds of technic builders as we can slowly deplete our stocks (...)   Re: Why Technic Pin 1/2 (part #4274) blue ?

(...) This makes sense since the even length axles are now black and the odd length ones are now light grey. Axle pins have also gone to a single color, tan if I recall. -Orion (21 years ago, 17-Jan-05, to lugnet.color, lugnet.parts, lugnet.technic)

Re: Why Technic Pin 1/2 (part #4274) blue ?

Salut Didier, (...) I think they are using different colors for different pins to make building easier, so younger children can do it. And blue for the half-pin seems to be the standard now. Jürgen (21 years ago, 17-Jan-05, to lugnet.color, lugnet.parts, lugnet.technic)

Why Technic Pin 1/2 (part #4274) blue ?

Hi, Sorry if this have ever been discussed. What is justifying the use of BLUE Technic Pin 1/2 - (URL) ? more precisely in Technic sets such as 8436 Truck ((URL) instead of the good old gray ones (please no "joke" on gray color issue thanks). (...) Yep - that's the one. In my defense, I have this part in white and did not think to look up "windscreen." All my uncataloged parts are now cataloged - so, I am set. Thanks!! -- Thomas Main thomasmain@myrealbox.com (21 years ago, 14-Jan-05, to lugnet.parts)
