My first track mod was the now fairly common point with a 2-curve side-branch. I'd always wanted to do the opposite - to move the track over with just curves. I've been able to find only one functional difference (improvement) you can clearly see here : (URL) That square limit how deep, Technic bushes for instance, can be "studded"; preventing it also to be "angled". (...) Is this a functional difference? It looks like something (a 1x1 cone, maybe?) should be able to stud into the center of that square. The only 2006 sets I have with part 3747 (7893 and 6205) have the older version. (19 years ago, 7-Apr-06, to lugnet.parts)

That is, to move over 16 studs as if going through one of those crossovers, but just using curve/straight/parallelogram sections? All your examples include points, but my best (...) (...) Hey mat, I understand your question about manufacturing parts and here's my take on it. BBB wheels were made because TLC basically refused to do it.
