  Parts and their file formats

Hi all! I started working with this and got a surprice. For the project below I intend to use: (URL) I picked (URL) for a test I downloaded the file and tried to view it - illegal gif file - a close view showed that the file is a PNG file not a GIF (...)   Re: Am I the only one who hates Lego parts with missing notches of plastic?

The studlet would hopefully be well designed that it was still a partial stud, and still be able to connect upwards to a plate from underneath - it would basically be the intersection of a normall stud, and the outer curvature of the macaroni (...) (20 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts)

Re: Am I the only one who hates Lego parts with missing notches of plastic?

(...) Wouldn't that studlet prevent the macaroni brick from attaching to, say, a 4x4 plate from beneath? By the way, what's the deal with your message format? Your name doesn't appear in the "Message has 2 Replies" section, and when I replied to (...) (20 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts)

Re: Am I the only one who hates Lego parts with missing notches of plastic?

(...) snip (...) I don't have very many macaroni bricks, so I'm not running into issues with the notch in that part. However, with other parts that have a notch, like: [LDrawPart 30151:15] [LDrawPart 3941:15] [LDrawPart 6222:15] [LDrawPart 2462:15] (...) (20 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts, FTX)

Re: Am I the only one who hates Lego parts with missing notches of plastic?

One way which TLG could go forward on this would be to place a studlet (partial stud) on the top of the macaroni bricks, that fits quite snug into the notch. You would then end up with an effect like the 2x2 round bricks stacked. This would give a (...) (20 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts)

Re: If you could wish for any single Lego element, what would it be?

(...) Just don't shell them all the way through like an LDraw part - the whole peak and a good part of the surrounding area could eiter be solid ABS (or some kind of rib or enclosure structure) for strength. Send me the STL file and I'll run one on (...) (20 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts, FTX)

Am I the only one who hates Lego parts with missing notches of plastic?

I was looking thru a bunch of old 1950's macaroni bricks I purchased recently from a Danish collector. The macaroni bricks were first introduced in 1955. From 1955-57 they came in 4 different types, after 1957 only the type we know today continued (...) (20 years ago, 27-Apr-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts)

Re: If you could wish for any single Lego element, what would it be?

(...) Thanks! Yeap, there are a lot of us Michiganians. (...) After my post yesterday I got to thinking that I'd left the gothic arch system incomplete. So below I'll give you a 1x8x4 & a 1x5x5 half arch. The regular half arch, has that 1x2 plate (...) (20 years ago, 22-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts, FTX)

  Re: Does it exist?

Also dont forget the standard Lego power connectors - they are a 2/3 2x2 brick. If you really wanted (already cringing at this) you could snip off the cable - and you have the brick. Danny -- (URL) - Build Robots (...) (20 years ago, 22-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts)

Re: If you could wish for any single Lego element, what would it be?

(...) Nice diagrams Jason (and fellow Michiganian)! I mentioned a 1x6x2 Gothic arch, but I guess it would be too narrow in the middle, a 1x6x3 arch makes much more sense. Maybe even a 1x5x5 half Gothic arch would be nice. One other thing about (...) (20 years ago, 22-Apr-05, to lugnet.parts, FTX)
