(...) The patina is an acid of sorts that reacts with the copper. Not sure of the end result would be to conductivity. I imagine it would be reduced some but not totally impeded. Mike (21 years ago, 8-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)

(...) Not sure, but you can purchase the copper tape untinned as well. (...) I'd thought of this. Scince I already plan to make solid metal wheels, I was thinking of drilling the center wheel larger on one side, and using an insulating insert. And (...) Snippage (...) I've worked with the stained glass tape in the manufacture of stained glass before and you can blacken the finish with a patina. try this link: (URL) the foil can be seen here: (URL) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)

(...) This looks a great idea and much simpler than making new metal flanges (as in the 9v motor) I don't actually run my stuff very much/far to I think it would be hardwearing enough for my purposes although I would imagine the 'round the flange' (...) (...) Martin, Thanks, I've tested the mods on a couple of different track layouts, and they seem to work well enough. Although there is a bit of flicker for the power pickup. I'm hoping the solid wheels take care of this. Yes I hope to offer these (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)

 | | Electrical pick-up for 9v track

I recently purchased a couple of cars form my Santa Fe engine. And I decided to install lights in the end car. To power the lights I ran a wire from the egine. But I eventually plan build a train consisting of at least 3 engines and 6 cars. And I (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.custom, lugnet.trains)

I've been woring on an EMD SD-40 eginine. And I wanted to have 6 wheeled motor trucks. But I also wanted it to be able to negotiate turns and switches. So I chopped up a 9v wheel set, modified the side plates for a 9v motor. (URL) I removed the (...) (21 years ago, 7-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.trains)

 | | Small battery box into 9V powersource?
|

I'd like a small powersource I can plug into a wall, and I've got a small 9V battery box that seems to have gone bad. The idea is to use a standard "wall wart" transformer to feed 9-12V DC into the small battery box. But, with all that lovely room (...) (21 years ago, 5-Oct-04, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.robotics)
