I've been woring on an EMD SD-40 eginine. And I wanted to have 6 wheeled motor
trucks. But I also wanted it to be able to negotiate turns and switches.
So I chopped up a 9v wheel set, modified the side plates for a 9v motor.

I removed the center section useing a razor saw. And replaced it with the side
plate from a wheel set.
I also made adaptors to hold the wheels to the side of the motor.

The adaptor started out as a technic pin. The pin was chopped in half. Sanded so
that the flange was thin and smooth. And I then removed about half of the clip
section to reduce the length. The adaptor has a short section of 1/8" brass tube
inserted. I then cut the steel axel into 2 short sections and slipped a short
section of 9/32 brass tube onto the back. The 9/32 tube had to be reamed out to
5/64 ID. I did this with a 5/64 drill bit before cutting the tube.
