(...) Thanks for the comments - but just so there's no confusion, the Workshop 3D RCX Challenge isn't sponsored or run by SMART. I'll make sure that Ray sees your comments. By the way, I also had a blast at the last competition! (...) I'm not sure (...) (23 years ago, 17-May-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

| | Ideas for next RCX competition
|

I've now entered the last two contests, and seen the last three, and I'm getting some ideas on how it could potentialy be improved. Overall I still think it's a great contest, and run quite well. I had a blast every time I came! I think with the (...) (23 years ago, 14-May-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Oh, I almost forgot: Gus also won a "Most Innovative Robot" award at Robothon 2002 for his RCX controlled helicopter! We've seen this slowly evolving at a couple of the SMART meetings. It has been a tremendous hit at both BricksWest, and at the (...) (23 years ago, 7-May-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Last weekend Gus Jansson participated in the Robothon 2002 at the Seattle Center. Last year he won first place with his LEGO maze-solver. (...) Thank you for describing these mechanisms! They are really cool, and it's quite instructive to see how you designed them. -- David Schilling (23 years ago, 28-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

| | Puck Gathering Mechanisms
|

I have created building instructions for how to build the (now obsolete) puck pick up mechanisms that I have used on the Workshop3D challenges. I have instructions for both geared and levered mechanisms. These are good examples of how you can use a (...) (23 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Hi Nathan, (...) I like this idea. Another variation I have thought of is a "connect the dots" tracking. In this case the dots would be a fixed distance apart (maybe 3") and the direction could change by +- 90 (or less) degrees from dot to dot. (...) (23 years ago, 25-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

| | Challenge Ideas

I have a couple of ideas for a challege 1) Line tracking with occasional breaks in the line. The breaks could occur regularly after some distance and be of a given distance. 2) Find the "token". A round ring like the sumo ring. White with a black (...) (23 years ago, 23-Apr-02, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
