I'm glad that they do not just want a "space" theme display.  I was thinking
that a multi-theme display that crossed several "timelines" could be really
neat.  The "edges" of each theme display could blend together (kind of like
the Bill and Mary Idea Book when they move from Town to Space).  Lots of
room for creative overlap (I hope I am being clear).

We may also want to consider hosting an "activity day" in connection with
the display - maybe on the same day that the display is set up.  From
reading messages in the Train newsgroup, I know that build sessions are
popular.  We may be able to get Lego to provide a K-8 or two for this.
Anyone know who we should contact for this?

The Library doesn't want just space thank goodness.  I like your idea • greg.
A some what middle of theroad futuristic theme may be good for our • display,
it will make it easy for people to contribute the display and not intrude • so
much on what we want at brickfest.  By the way I think a reserved table at
brickfest would be great.  I although think it is something we should talk
about.  I think we could feasibly come up with a plan to participate in • both
venues(Brickfest and the Library Display).  I know I am not planning on
putting all my stuff in either of them.

At some point we will have to decide all this though.

That is another message though.

snippity snip of previous stuff..

The library case is enclosed and locked (although the walls are glass -
someone "could" just break the glass but I don't think that is a major
concern).  The display area is rather large, especially vertically.  We
would need to know if the library wants us to develop a "theme" or if we • can
just develop a display ourselves.

Rich mentioned that they requested something "space" oriented. We • definitely
need to know if they want that as the only theme. Hopefully not.  But I • have
already started thinking about trying to build some kind of futuristic
cityscape along the lines of "Futurama" which I could populate with all
those insectoid, robo-raiders and assorted space mini-figs.

Finally, if the display dates conflicts with Brickfest in such a way
that we >have to choose one or the other, we can either (1) see if the
library could >give us a different month or display time or (2) decline
their offer to >display (at least for now).

I definitely don't want to decline their offer because they might not • give
us another chance - at least not any time soon.  I'd say we could maybe • ask
for another month but at the first sign of hesitation on their part I say • we
commit to July.

A related topic - what kind(s) of display(s) would we want to do for
Brickfest?

I hadn't really thought about the idea of a combined display from • RichLUG.
If the Library wants a themed display then it might be better to focus • group
energy on that and let folks do individual displays for BrickFest. I was
planning on taking my Brick House of Horrors and some Zeppelins and maybe • a
diorama with my Confederate Troops.  If we do decide to put something
together as a group then we might want to think about reserving some • table
space with the organizers ahead of time.

Thanks for the info and input Tim.

This sounds good to me. I think that way everyone will have something that fits. I don't have a number for that particular dept, but I do have a customer relations number. I am sure we could get through to someone through them. I got to them through (...) (24 years ago, 13-Mar-01, to lugnet.org.us.richlug)
