You know, I was drafting a response while I was on the road this week, and John
posted a reply that has many of my response elements, so I'll piggyback where
applicable below:

I think we should take advantage of Wayne's efforts to continue this and let
him put the webpage updates on the top of his list. The professional looking
webpage design is a great foundation for flyers, etc. Wayne, you're doing
great. The rest of the team can pull together other elements of layout, etc.

...stay up late enough, and it's tomorrow already! I learned that this past
week at work in the field.

I'd get more enjoyment out of a club that's not as structured as following such
a strict agenda. Not that we currently follow a tight structure, but I wanted
to make a somewhat stronger statement than John - this sounds too much like my
work environment, and I don't want that spilling over to this particular hobby.
If we wanted to have an officer's meeting with Robert's Rules of Order
dictating business matters, that's one thing. As a matter of fact, I'm an
officer in a local rock/gem/mineral club, and we have those types of meetings
prior to the regular club meeting. After that, we start the club meeting,
where we have a good time and geek out about rocks and fossils and stuff. That
keeps business seperate as business, and then we attend to the real reason why
we gathered in the first place.
Take a look a some of the other LTCs out there, and they enjoy success in the
same way - busniess is kept to a minimum, and distinctly seperated from 95% of
the activities of the club meeting. Remember, we only know of LTCs that have
organized herre on LUGNET - many may exist "outside the fold" and I'd like to
assume they're in it for the fun of it.

Seriously, though - it may be a good idead to have officers at some point, but
I'm comfortable with accepting our current statuses. Wayne, you've got my
unofficial vote.

You know, we can mentally assign these specialties, but don't want to be bound
by them. Let's stay away from doing that. I think more regular in person
meetings and postings to a club mailing list will establish updates on what
we're working on currently. While these specialty descriptions are currently
pretty accurate, I remember Wayne's recent posting about getting deals on a
couple Mindstorms sets and (tongue-in-cheek) thanking John B. for the exposure
to that cool stuff. If we publish such specialties on a web page, be prepared
to update it. I'm really getting into Scala at the moment...just kidding.

I'd like to contribute some bricks into a jambalaya bin. Nicole points out
that her brick supply is locked into Ken's legacy creations, and I think access
to a club supply of bricks would be beneficial for her and others. Just a
thought - I don't mean that to sound like charity, but rather a cool bin of
stuff that we could draw/borrow from as a group at meetings/shows/etc.

I've been tracing Office Depot's pricing on this, and unfortuantely they still
have the best price, and they know it. On 5/25, they updated the price of
these tables from $24.99 to $32.99. While I don't like an apparently overnight
33% increase, it's still probably a good deal. They will probably start
offering coupons and such to promote these items, and we'll have to take
advantage of that. Drones in the stores will probably be unwise to all this,
so don't expect too much from them if you go in person. I'll wait to hear
Wayne's report. I believe Staples' similar table is $39.99, and it's a
different manufacturer.

OK - now I have an opinion. Table layout depends, I'd say, about 75% weighted
on the venue. "Oh man - they put us in the corner!" or "Oh man, where'd that
pillar come from?" Doing a show at Roberson, for example, depends on the
Harkness theater location versus the Visitor Center location. The real estate
changes so much, that we just have to be prepared to be flexible. We may get
some advance warning and specs from show organizers, but I wouldn't count on
it. Having several layout designs and an attitude that allows changes in them
is key.

Gettysburg is quite a place, you lucky dog! I'll be in Hershey later this
month to hit the RollerSoaker, so June's busy on my front as well.
