... If the opposing RCXs
connect sensor ports to each other, and then both connect in parallel to it
either a touch sensor or the float/brake motor port thing, then both bots
will receive the signal and both can transmit in the same wire.
It will simply mean that at the end of your turn, you need to short the
circuit (or brake the motor or touch the sensor) and then release it again
so youre able to receive the signal back from the other bot. We could make
it so that your turn time starts once your opponent is off the sensor.

Heres a picture of what I mean: (I only have 1 RCX, so sensor ports 1 and 3
represent the two different bots. If either sensor gets pressed, both ports
register it.)

This looks like a good scheme, but I dont think it helps to have my sensor
port connected to your sensor port.
If you have a touch sensor connected to my sensor input, you can send me a
signal. At the same time, if I have a wire from your input to my robot (touch
sensor or motor output), then I can send you a signal. These will both work at
the same time.
The only real advantage to this set-up is that only one wire will travel between
robots. But I dont think that really matters, in this case.
The basic idea is still for me to open/close one sensor input on your RCX, when
Im finished.

But it needs to be clarified how soon that sensor is to be open again... because whether two wires or one, it's important (...) (21 years ago, 25-Sep-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)
