Actually Chris is a real threat in this competition.  After all, we
haven't closed the loophole of the self-mocking robot. :)

OK, I'm confused.  I've posted a few messages from work now BUT they are
not showing up on line.

how am I supposed to come back with my witty repartee if I cant post
from someplace OTHER than home.

You know, I hate to say this, but I'm actually starting to feel bad for
Chris.  I guess some of us really just don't "get" technology.  They say a
good leader will surround himself with people smarter than he is.  I think
that's easy for Chris to do.

He's cried out for help, by claiming his building skills are lacking ("I
can't build") and at every rtl event I've been to, I've seen Chris backup
this statement with hard evidence.  I've heard stories about other events,
("Hey Mister...") but I just couldn't imagine anyone needing help that badly.

At times like this, when our country is in need...  oh, wait...  wrong speech...

At times like this, when our leaders need our support, we must show that we
believe in him and what he represents.  This is when we must make the
sacrifice...  Step up to the plate...  Meet the challenge...  Overcome all
obstacles...  And support his cause.

You may be thinking, "What can I do?  I'm only one person."

Well, the answer is simple.  You can build a robot.  It doesn't have to be a
great robot.  It doesn't even have to be a good robot.  (ask Chris)  Just
build a robot and bring it to the next rtl event.

I believe an overwhelming show of support from the entire rtl group, and
others from outside the group, will inspire Chris to learn how to use his
e-mail.

Thanks for your support
Steve

Remember, every robot counts.  (usually in binary)

Very Nice Post Steve!!!  I like the satirical tone of the post!!!  Way to
start it by centering it around Chris (and his "leadership" skills) and then
use it as a call to action for all the "lurkers" and "non-robot competitors"
(like me).

I thought this might be a good spot to highlight a proposed chasis I made for
RTL 13 (which I may or maynot be competing in).

Here is the two pics:

and

It isn't pretty and it is basically rudimentary, but it is a nice start.
I am starting my strategy to help with the "Hill Climbing" aspect of it,
just the movement from A to B (starting point to "hill").

It's still very much in the sub-Chris stage. I would very much like to have
a simple but competition-worthy Robot for the next competition.

Comments are welcome.

Thanks,

Ben

Not that Chris needs defending, but here's the thing--he came in second in
Project X.

His 'bot was the only 'bot I saw that day that 'multitasked'--having two
EOATs (if you can call them that)--one for scanning, one for placing, and
they functioned together.

Robs may have won, and it was also sweet to watch, but Chris's was just... wow!

Bam Bam Bam Bam goes the scanner, and halfway thru that goes the
grabber/mover mechanism--sa-weet!

I was lucky enuf to have Design Team Runamok set up right beside Chris's
'bot and got to watch it go many times.

As well, without the constant goading of Chris, I probably wouldnt get a
'bot done for any event--that's his way of 'leading' the group.

And if you watch him at an event--he is genuinely curious about all the
'bots and makes astute observations during his 'walkabout'.

But 'nuff building Chris up, let's talk about Chasm Crossing/Capture the
Flag--What was that???  Block Stacking?  Your first pneumatic 'bots had
better chances at succeeding!!

;)
