I saw somewhere someone chopped the annoying centre protrusion off a crown
wheel to get this to work - can't remember where off-hand. I prefer the old
diffs anyway 8?)

Was it perhaps this post (to lugnet.robotics): (URL) don't think the person says anything about modifying his parts, but in one of the pictures one can clearly see a crown gear driving a new-style diff.
