Any match involving Dave's robot: 3-minutes of pure suspense
All other robots and "robots": 10 seconds or less
Any match involving Chris's rocket: OK everyone, clear the area!

and the winners in various categories are:
Most crashes: Chris (6?)
Fastest rebuild time between crashes: Chris
Most entertaining robot: Chris
Furthest trebuchet robot launch: Chris
Best demonstration of LEGO brute force: Dave
Most RCX crashes to the floor: Calum
Demonstration of LEGO's flexibility: Calum
Clearly, I think Chris is the unofficial winner ;)
I'm all for doing this again sometime as a side-event....
... and yes, I would build something that time :)
