Rob, thanks for the try. As well as asking for help here, I sent out a few e-mails to entomologists who left their e-mail address on the web. to my pleasant surprise, one replied within a few hours to tell me that what I had seen was indeed a wasp. (...) From your description, I think its a tiger beetle. They come in metallic blue as well as metallic green flavours. (URL) are active during the day unlike other beetles. OK. once again I'm going off topic. - tough! I am not an entomologist, nor do I claim to be one. I have little interest in insects. BUT recently, these past few summers I would occasionally see this "thing" that while in flight would remind me of a (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jul-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
