Who wants to take a trip?

Billund, I hear, is nice in April ;) (URL) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Who is building a ministacker?

(...) I got confused by that. too. The rules say pained corners, and using Dave's playfield, plain plywood, 8x8. I thought Daves was 4x4, and painted grey. Thought RTl's was 8x8 painted grey... what is it? -Rob A. (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Who is building a ministacker?

(...) Hey Rob, We're going with the 8x8 field, not the 4x4. I dunno how smooth the joint is on the 8x8--I think the center part is good 'casue it's got the piano hinge under it, but out to the edges, where there's no hinge, there's a bit of a lip. (...)   Re: Brick - plate plate - brick

(...) I warn you, if you think a block-stacker is parts-intensive, the GBC is far worse. Part of the problem is I now need >shudder< more system bricks (my 7-year-old son has them, not me), *and* more plates, 1x16 beams, etc., etc. Once you build a (...)   Re: Brick - plate plate - brick

(...) $629 Base price Canadian. Keyboard&Mouse $78 Canadian. Both the US and Canadian Store where up and down Yesterday. They seem to be stable now. (URL) As always, the product and industrial design is perfect. Agreed, it looks awesome. I bet it's (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Brick - plate plate - brick

(...) I'm pretty impressed by the fact they managed to bring down an Apple product to nearly afforable prices. $500 USD, given current exchange rates, is a steal. Of course, that doesn't include the pricey keyboard and mouse ($58!) or a display, and (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Ummmmmm passes on said wager, mainly because it was just a joke. (...) ......and I would never wager on what anyone else is talking about. Half the time I rarely know what I am talking about, the other half of the time I'm sure I don't. (...) (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) He's too busy secretly drooling over Jobs' keynote today and pricing his new Mac mini. ;) Iain (me too!) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Brick - plate plate - brick

(...) Janey, I'll wager Chris is talking about the black magic (otherwise known as Technic) way of stuffing 2 layers of plates between each layer of bricks. But I've been wrong before... ROSCO (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Brick - plate plate - brick

(...) Apparently you missed the rules, it's plate, brick, TILE! I know, because I just made 60 of them, for a little game I am playing. Janey "Red Brick" (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Brick - plate plate - brick

DAMN ROB. thats HARD!! I mean the concept is simple, brick, plate plate, brick. who the heck has that many plates? I put all that in my never use pile. NOW I have to dig for them, AND make this robot colour co-ordinated? lets do something EASY! how (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Who is building a ministacker?

(...) What?!?!?! I thought I threw out that napkin with my ingenious sketches monday night... how did you get it Rob? And Calum, all the ideas that I mentioned should have had a big COPYRIGHT on it ;) I'm working on a mini-stacker BTW John (who (...) (20 years ago, 12-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Who is building a ministacker?

(...) I am. I spent a chunk of time over the holidays working on my block eating mechanism. The rest of the robot is coming along. 8x8x8 is kind of small, but not unrealistic, even for a dual RCX robot. Dave: What is the maximum gap in the joint (...)   Re: Automation Project Proposal - GBC speed

(...) That's one thing that is still very much in question. We had to pick some number, and 1 bps seemed like a place to start. All the contraption modules I've seen so far run pretty close to that speed. It's hard to see in this picture, but the (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Automation Project Proposal

(...) First, Love this idea. I love building Marble runs. I had a 4 year Marble run period all through high school. That's all I would build. However I don't get why you want to push the balls through so fast. It makes things more difficult and I (...) (20 years ago, 11-Jan-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
