How many posts do we need?  We could probably still use the GETS 2000 set,
just add to them, I built 12.

12 seemed just enough for the last layout.  For future layouts, I'd say
we'd need somewhere between 16-24.

They are only 29.5 inches tall, which I
thought was a bit short

Yes, it was a bit short, but if you have one rope and make it taller, then
small folks will sneak underneath.  Suggestion:  Run a second rope
through the middle of the poles in addition to the rope through the tops?

The rope, (I can't find what we had at GETS 2000!) was from Canadian tire,
white 1/4 or 5/16 inch in diameter very soft.  They sold them in bags of 50
feet, we may have to look at other options, but I really didn't like the
yellow stiff rope they sold in bulk.

Several holes
to run the electrical wires under the table, and out of reach. Let me know
if I should nix this idea, before I start buying more materials!

I like the idea of hiding the wires out of the way, but right now
I can't recall what Steve is planning...

BTW, I don't have any buckets to spare for making poles, since the ones
I have currently serve as storage.

I forgot to mention that we could have almost used 14 for GETS 2000, remember we butted one end up against the other train display, so we didn't need a barrier on that side. I had drilled two holes in the pipes, one 6 inches below the other, I (...) (23 years ago, 31-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug)

For the rope barriers I used 1 1/4 inch rigid PVC conduit, it is used for built in vaccuums. One end is female, they are 10 feet long. I used grey, because the white ones in St Paul were so old and dirty they were almost grey! White would be much (...) (24 years ago, 30-Dec-00, to lugnet.org.ca.nalug)
