Though I watched the launch of IT/Ginger/Segway with anticipation, I was
sorely disappointed in the final product.
Cities built around this thing? Cities where? Magical domed cities (so
weather isn't a problem), where everything you need is within 5.5 miles of
your residence (so you don't run out of juice), and there is no crime (so
roving gang members don't just shoot you to take the dumb thing)?
Segway would have been HUGE...3 years ago during the dot com boom...every
upwardly mobile company would have outfitted all of their employees with
these, to scoot around the office and look cool for the media and possible
investors. Too bad this inntroduction was just a few years too late...we
could have all picked one up for a couple of hundred bucks at the
going-out-of-business fire sales and auctions!
You all hit most of the bad (and the few good) points about this thing, so I
stayed out of the discussion, but when I saw this story yesterday, I knew I
had to post it (seems there was one more unforseen problem with the Segway):
