And, you have to stand for the trip, unlike sitting in a car or exercising on a
bike. And because you have to watch out for other geekscooter riders and
pedestrians, its not like you can even daydream like when you walk somewhere.
Its pretty laughable actually. I would rather wait for the Moller Skycar, or
by a gyrocopter. You may look like a geek, but hey, you're a flying geek!
At least when they are riding ginger, the overweight geeks will be able to
outdistance their pursuers- unless they are being threatened by sprinters...
And what happens if it dies on you in a place where you can't recharge it?
From what i have heard, its too heavy to carry, so you can't take it on a bus
like a bike, so you have to drag it with you.
Its also not so big that it can't be stolen pretty easily either.
As a former student, its pretty useless too- its not like i could do my
groceries with it.
And what if it rains? Or snows? Hmmm... I can ride my geekscooter, and freeze
to death en route, or i can get in my car, and get to work/class/wherever warm
and dry.
And really, who is the target market? If people are that lazy that they can't
walk somewhere... if its for the elderly, well, they already have rascals- they
can sit in them at least.
I'd rather have a street version of a ATV/quad- witha ragtop, front and rear
cargo containers and battery powered. *That* would be the perfect small
vehicle.
This thing is going to remain a high tech toy and go the way of the dodo. Dean
Kamens a crank.

| (...) Well in the hay-day of the dot com explosion getting around the office by walking was just not very cool. My bet is that this is much of what had been planned as the "target market". Now that most of those people are on the unemployment line (...) (23 years ago, 4-Dec-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)
