(...) The Linksys will allow this. If I recall correctly it splits up a class C subnet (192.x.x.x ??), half for DHCP and the other half as dedicated to MACs. Practicaly everything is user configurable if you don't like the defaults. I use the non (...) (23 years ago, 1-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) defenitly you can use DSL with a LAN - what you have to do is have the server do NAT (Network address translation), which means you have multiple computers on the same ip. you can do that with any win98 and higher, via software, and of course, (...) (...) Thanks Mike - That sounds like a good way to go - I guess the only thing that would be a loss using the BEFSR41 to handle DHCP is better control over the IP Lease? I have a home network that sounds very similer to yours and had, initially, similer problems. I solved virtually all problems with a BEFSR41 from Linksys. (www.linksys.com/pro...sp?grid=5) There are other similar products on the market but this is (...) (23 years ago, 1-Jun-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

I have a LAN (Win2k server based) in my house that includes the server being a DNS server, DHCP server and Domain controller. I have this configuration so (...) If you're using Linux, see if Linux IR tools can chat with a tower -- or if some other RS-232 IR device can chat with a Lego device. I haven't had time to do such tests yet. (23 years ago, 30-May-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) The only IrCOMM I know of is part of the IrDA standard. It provides something that looks just like a typical serial port to the application, but underneath is layered on top of IrLAP (packet based link level prototocol for IrDA). This means (...)
